The Gaithersburg Police Foundation raises funds to support the Gaithersburg Police Department as a premier employer that delivers quality community policing, instilling public trust, safety and open communication.
The Gaithersburg Police Foundation raises funds to support the Gaithersburg Police Department in its efforts to carry forth the Department’s core mission and values, which benefit City of Gaithersburg residents by funding, assisting or undertaking programs and activities to promote public safety.
OUR FOUNDATION'S GOALS
- To offer educational opportunities for police staff
- To enhance recruitment and retention of officers
- To provide logistical support to officers
- To evaluate technology to support Gaithersburg Police Department
- To fundraise in order to carry-forth the foundation activities and services
- To conduct on-going community outreach
CHIEF OF POLICE
Mark P. Sorka
Mark P. Sroka is the Chief of Police of the Gaithersburg Police Department in Gaithersburg, MD and has served in this capacity since July 13, 2010. He was previously a 24-year member of the Maryland State Police and held the rank of Major upon his retirement on July 1, 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Baltimore.
We are committed to protecting life and property, improving the quality of life for all people by working with our community, City departments and other government agencies in continually striving to develop and implementing proactive strategies. I remain committed to continuing the partnership with the Gaithersburg Police Foundation (GPF) to enhance the agency’s core mission which benefits the citizens of Gaithersburg by the GPF funding, assisting or undertaking programs and activities to promote public safety.
